1956 tenor-saxophonist Charlie Ventura  no longer had a regular band and was drifting into semi-retirement.  In fact, other than an album for King the following year and a set for  Famous Door in 1977, this Lp was his final recording.  Teamed with the then-unknown pianist Dave McKenna,  guitarist Billy Bean, bassist Richard Davis (at the beginning of his career)  and drummer Mousey Alexander, Ventura switches between tenor, alto,  baritone and bass saxophones.  The repertoire is filled with swing and dixieland standards including  such unlikely songs as "When The Saints Go Marching In,  " "Bill Bailey" and "Sweet Sue" (in addition to a remake of Ventura's   old…

The Third International Music Tribune
 Asia was held from 17 to 21oktyabrya 1973.

Opening Musical Tribune held in the building
Abay Opera House.
 Opening the musical opened Tribune Vice President of the International Music Council,
 Secretary of the Union of Soviet Composers B.M.Yarustovsky.
 He praised the achievements of musical culture of the Asian republics of the USSR,
 stressing that music Tribune - a kind of mirror reflecting the development of the peoples of the continent.

The second day of the third musical Tribune Asia was held in the House of Friendship.
 Jury and Selection Committee heard works representing the culture of Burma,
 Indonesia, Australia, Arab Republic of Egypt, of the Soviet republics.

The third day of the Tribune was held in Almaty State Conservatory named after Kurmangazy.

The concert at the conservatory of his first office was devoted to the work of composers of Georgia.
